Gold Spray Painted (Brushed Technique) Tutorial

Materials Needed:
Painter's Tape (I used the cheapest, old-school kind I could find)
Gold Spray Paint
A darker colored, Hammered Metal texture paint
Small Brush (with medium to hard bristles)
newspaper
tarp

1.
I taped the mirror part of my mirror around the edge of the frame and laid down newspapers to completely cover the mirror. I did all this while my mirror was still hanging.
2.
After I taped and covered the inside mirror part, only leaving the frame exposed, I removed my mirror from the wall, laid down my tarp and set the mirror on top outside.
I bribed my husband and children with lots of cookies and candy if they gave me 30 minutes outside until the mission was accomplished. Just kidding. Sort of.
3.
I spray painted a coat of a dark bronze metallic "hammered metal" (textured) paint onto the frame
4.
I let the hammered metal paint dry about 10 minutes
5.
Next, I started spraying in small areas (about 5 inches wide) the gold onto the frame
6.
Before the gold paint dried in the area where I sprayed, I would take my brush and brush the gold paint horizontally
7.
Then vertically making overlapping strokes
8.
Until something like this formed (see number 8 on pictures) where I could see the bronze paint coming through in some places and the gold paint more gold-ish in other places
9.
After I allowed my frame to dry, I untaped my newspaper then rehung my mirror

The End.
